The small courier town of Clait is pinned between Aplil and Taysil, two sister countries engaged in violent “chivalric” aerial warfare over the desire for an imperial claim. In Spring Clait is informed that the coming year would see a scheduled battle above their skies. Likely destroying their town and the region around it. After a mysterious messenger tube bearing the royal insignia reveals itself from within an ancient warship scrapped for parts, Clait chooses one of its most reliable pilots to deliver it through dead man’s land and plead for their town to be saved.
